Why make homemade apple butter?

Making apple butter at home is a great way to use up an abundance of fresh apples whether from a local orchard or a great sale at the grocery store. And if you have a picky crew who won’t eat bruised apples, then making this easy apple butter recipe will give you a way to use them.

Apple butter is a delicious spread that is perfect on just about any kind of bread. It’s also delicious on waffles, muffins, or on top of a big bowl of oatmeal. My kids will also eat it straight from the jar, so that’s clearly an option.

7. Spoon fresh apple butter in clean jars and store in fridge or process for canning.

8. To can, process glass jars in a hot water bath for 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack, and store in pantry.
